Reluctant to head back east for the holidays, we decided this year to road-trip through the southwest with our dog Whiskey.
We started with a drive through the central valley, stopping at Harris Ranch for snacks and steak, and spending the first evening at Panamint Springs on Christmas Eve. It was a little chilly, but we warmed up with prickly pear cactus margaritas by the campfire.
After a morning drive through Death Valley, and a hike up Titus Canyon, we ended up in Las Vegas. We spotted our goal, Elvis in a Santa hat, and enjoyed the visual feast of the Fremont Experience and the traditional Jewish Christmas dinner of Chinese food.
