Went to Florida for a family bash and behind-the-scenes tour of Disney World.
Almost more impressive as an adult than as a kid to see the attention to detail. Our guide spent over an hour describing all the names on the windows of Main Street, which represented shell companies used to buy empty swamp land on the cheap. We also got to enter the “utilidoor” complex below the park, where “cast members” can move between lands unseen, furry heads off briefly to escape the heat.
We also self-toured Epcot with the goal of having a drink in every country. Now that I’ve actually been to all these places (except Norway), I appreciate them even more and my passport is full. I was more excited for the monorail than any other ride, and Ruth loved the old-fashioned vision of the city of tomorrow.
